I Don’t Want to Be Pregnant. Is Abortion My Only Option?
If you’re facing an unplanned pregnancy, you’re likely feeling overwhelmed and afraid for your future. While abortion is one option for your pregnancy, you also have other choices. These choices include parenting and making an adoption plan.
Read on to learn more about your pregnancy options besides abortion. Or, if you want to talk to someone in person about your pregnancy, contact First Concern Pregnancy Resource Center today to be connected to one of our caring team members. All appointments and resources are free and confidential.
Parenting
Parenting might feel like an impossible option. Maybe you’re worried about how you’ll accomplish your goals while parenting, or perhaps you’re concerned about not having financial stability or your partner’s support. These feelings and concerns are valid and understandable, but parenting can still be rewarding despite these obstacles.
While only you can decide if parenting is the right choice, here are some questions that can help you think through this option:
- Do I have the support of my family, friends, or partner? If not, what community resources are available to help me?
- Do I feel financially stable? If not, can community resources help me with food, housing, or baby supplies?
- How can I accomplish my goals while parenting?
- How will I feel if I choose not to parent?
Adoption
Adoption can be an emotionally complex decision that is both difficult and selfless. If you’re considering this option, speaking with an adoption counselor is essential to decide if this choice is right for you.
You have choices within adoption. For example, you can decide if you want to remain anonymous to the adoptive family or if you want to have open communication between you, the adoptive family, and your child.
We provide referrals to reputable agencies who can assist you. Contacting them does not require you to make a commitment.
